The EPIC Vacation: Part 1

In September of 2022, Curtis and I started planning what we call the Epic Vacation of 2023! It began as a birthday trip for Curtis and quickly morphed into a two week long vacation starting in London and then to the Highlands of Scotland. You can imagine our surprise when we discovered that the King’s Coronation was the same weekend we planned to be in London!

After an overnight flight, we landed at Heathrow Airport and were greeted by our chauffeur. The entry to the UK was relatively painless. We had planned on having carryons, but due to a booked plane and an over-eager airline employee, we had to check our bags. Regardless, it wasn’t a bad flight.

Our drive from the airport was longer due to the amount of extra people there for the coronation. But we had a competent driver who gave us a tour on the way to our hotel. After we checked in, we decided to walk around a bit and get something to eat. We also had tickets to Phantom of the Opera at His Majesty’s Theatre that evening! It was unbelievable!!

The next morning we got up early and walked around the streets of London! Breakfast was one of the first stops…. which meant coffee, of course. We planned on spending the day at the British Museum and were there for over 4 hours! We even watched the King’s Coronation on Curtis’ phone while we were taking a break in the cafe.

Our evening ended at the Royal Opera House where we had dinner at the Piazza and attended Sleeping Beauty. It was amazing!

We only had one full day in London, when we really wished we had a week. There were so many things we didn’t get to see, but we did enjoy the first leg of our EPIC VACATION.
